I am so proud of myself! I have finished the Debbie Bliss Cable and Rib sweater that I was knitting for my Princess! This was my first completed cable project and I attribute my success to learning to work the cables without an extra cable needle. I've attempted to knit various projects with cables in them in the past and have frogged all of them. This has nothing to do with the difficulty of the projects but everything to do with my irritation at that extra silly little needle! I still have a few ends to weave in and it needs to be blocked but it's done enough for me to be excited.
I'm trying to figure out what to make next. I would really like to make something for me since most of my knitting ends up being for other people. I'm thinking I might make up some of Eunny Jang's Endpaper fingerless gloves out of some Knit Picks Shine sport that I got off of someone on Ravelry. I know they are supposed to be done in a fingering weight yarn but I think I can pull it of alright without having to tinker too much with the chart. These would make some great driving gloves as the weather slowly gets warmer.
I've got a total block about what else to cast on for right now. I plan to knit a sweater (Sampo) for my DH for his birthday in April but I haven't even ordered the yarn yet. Must get on that or it won't be ready until next birthday! I'll be doing it in Knit Picks Tellemark, which is the suggested yarn, in squirrel heather which is a nice soft gray. I'm looking forward to this one and I must get that order placed!

Wow, not exactly good at this am I?
Ok, so I started this blog on January 3rd and I'm only getting around to my second post 11 days later! Oh well, I'm a busy mom... or at least that's my excuse!
I joined the the January Knit a Mile Challenge on Ravelry which kicked off on the 5th and I've been working hard to finish some of my WIPs so I could start something new out of my stash for the majority of the yardage required to complete the challenge. I finished Monkey Boy 1's scarf and hat set and he's ecstatic about them. I'm just worried that he'll loose them. This is not a baseless fear seeing as he lost two new hats in December before Christmas holidays. He's been back at school for a week now and both pieces are still around so here's hoping!
On Monday of last week I started a knit soaker for a lady who is looking for someone to make a bunch of soakers for her son to wear over his cloth diapers. I used the Tiny Birds pattern and it knit up super quick. I finished in a day and a half.
So with those projects done I felt like I could start something new out of stash and get going.....there's the snag.... I don't want to work with anything in my stash right now! This totally sucks and I'm frustrated with myself but I'm pushing through this and knitting up a the Cable and Rib Sweater for the princess out of the Debbie Bliss Baby Book. I'm not enamored of the yarn but since I've committed to use up some stash this will have to do.
Now, with all this self restraint and sacrifice I need to have something to look forward to....a reward for being such a disciplined knitter so I've promised myself that when I'm nearing the end of this sweater I'll order some new Knit Picks yarn to make a sweater for DH for his birthday in April AND I'm going to splurge on a set of Harmony interchangeables too! With a reward like that in my future I'd better stop wasting time and get this sweater finished already!

Well here goes nothing....
Well I've never blogged before and to be honest I've never been 100% sure what I think of the the phenomenon. I got my invite to Ravelry on Christmas even and have quickly become addicted. One of my favorite parts is looking at people's profiles and checking out their blog if they have one. I figure I might as well give it a shot myself.
This is intended to be a knitting blog but I expect that the rest of my life is bound to creep in at times too. I'm planning to use this space to set project goals, make notes about patterns I'm working on, and generally gripe about random stuff.
So what's on the needles right now? I'm working on a Double Knit hat and scarf set for Monkey Boy 1. I really need to get them done before he goes back to school on Monday so I've been working on them feverishly all week. I'm doing them in Regia Crazy Colour sock yarn so it feels like it's taking me an eternity! I refuse to start anything new until I've got these done and I'm trying to ignore the urge to cast on something more fun and riveting.... plenty of time for that when I have one fewer child in the house all day... or actually 2 fewer since I'm watching a friend's kid this week too.
